Boston Bruins Goalie Tim Thomas: The Modern Dominik Hasek

Boston Bruins goalie Tim Thomas, a 37 year old goaltender who started his NHL career at age 31, has put up dominating numbers this season and is turning heads.

With a 13-2-1 record to compliment a .956 save percentage, 1.44 goals against average and 5 shutouts, Thomas has easily been the most impressive goalie in the NHL this season.

Thomas' unorthodox style is reminiscent of Hall Of Fame goalie Dominik Hasek -- "how did he do that?!" plays that can be credited to flexibility, athleticism and a spectacular eye for the puck.

However, Thomas' story is what makes him so much more unorthodox.

Boston Bruins Fans: Be Patient With Tyler Seguin; The Minutes Will Come

Tyler Seguin will play more minutes soon, Bruins fans. No need to fret. There is no need for Claude Julien to rush Seguin, and force him into a role that he may not be ready for.

Seguin is still learning the professional hockey game, and despite the fact that he looks like a budding superstar at times, he also makes rookie mistakes. That's normal, and expected.

The problem is that fans want his minutes to go up now. Why now? Don't you want his minutes to be up when the playoffs come?

First Quarter NHL Awards Breakdown: Nicklas Lidstrom Out Of Norris Race?

The National Hockey League has passed the first quarter of their season, and a lot of players have already started campaigning for the NHL Awards Show in June. Obviously, nobody has publicly stated anything; their on-ice play has done the talking for them.

Usually, there are predictions made early in the season about who is going to win what award before teams have even played ten games. An example of this was Tim Thomas' early season dominance in net. He has since slowed down, and no longer has numbers that would set numerous records. The sample size is just too small. After the quarter mark passes, fans have a better gauge on who has a legitimate shot to win the NHL awards at the end of the season.

The most important awards are the Hart Trophy, Norris Trophy, Vezina Trophy and Calder Trophy. Those are the awards I will be taking a look at. Click "Read More" to get my predictions!
